Watch Satellite TV ? Parental Control On What Children Watch

Many of the companies that are around today are now making it much easier for parents to control the programs when their children watch satellite TV. The parent controls (also known as the V-chip) provides an adult with the power as well as the ability to block any programs that a child may watch satellite TV based on a specific criteria. This is all because of the telecommunications act of 1996 which suddenly saw the increase in the amount of violence, nudity and foul language that was appearing on TV's in homes. Because of this the V-chip was introduced in order to address the problem.

The way that it is used is that a parent will need to enter a 4 digit PIN or password and this will then place a protection on their satellite system which will then stop unwanted programs being transmitted into their home and all this is because most TV's today are now equipped with the V-chip. Because of this parents can now rest a little more easy knowing that they are able to choose the programming which is most suitable for their child dependent upon their age.

But what one needs to be aware of if that children today are very computer knowledgeable and you may find that as they get older they will be able to figure out the PIN or password you have used and so be able to watch whatever they want.

Unfortunately although there is the Children's Television Act in place it only deals with television programming and what effects advertising may have on a child. It does not directly stop or filter off unsuitable content when children watch satellite TV. The other measures which parents want in order to control the content that their child may encounter when channel hopping is yet to be undertaken and at present it is down to the parents how they regulate this.

But thankfully because of the invention of the V-chip the problem of how to stop your child from watching satellite TV that is unsuitable has been made a lot easier. What is even better about this is that it only takes a few minutes for you to set up the blocks on the programs that you do not want your child to watch.
